President Goodluck Jonathan is sure of delegates’ votes from 29 states of the federation, says the Director- General of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organization, Dr. Dalhatu Tafida.
Tafida, who was speaking at the Isaac Boro Peace Park where the campaign organization met with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yenagoa said all the states visited were totally committed to the vision of President Jonathan to lead the country to greater heights.
Giving a breakdown of the states, he predicted that Jonathan would capture all the votes in the North-east, North-west, North central, South- West, and South- south, while the two states already visited in South- east were for him.
According to him, the commitment from members of the party in the country was a pointer to the fact that Jonathan’s presidential aspiration is a Nigeria project. He said Jonathan had not resorted to tribal sentiments to campaign but had urged the people to judge him by his performance not where he comes from.
“We are not here to campaign because the Governor has told us there is no need because Bayelsa is already for Jonathan. I want to say you are lucky to have Jonathan from your state. Nigeria is also lucky to have him as President. I don’t want to equate Goodluck Jonathan to Bayelsa alone because he is not a President of a community, or a state, or geographical area or regional but of all the nation. He is the candidate of Nigeria. God put him there as President for him to occupy the seat. The President told them to judge him by what he can do and not by the area he comes from and he has started doing what he promised.
“This man only asked that he be allowed to complete the tenure which his boss left behind uncompleted. That is normal. He decided not to use his instrument of office to campaign and muscle the people but established the campaign office and visited each state to beg them for votes and all the 29 states visited had assured us of total vote during the primaries of our party” Tafida said.
He maintained that Jonathan is for unity, stability and development of Nigeria, stressing that if given another four years to rule, Nigerians would see wonders as the President is best prepared to build a new Nigeria.
