Manchester United’s hierarchy have turned down a move for Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti despite legendary ex-boss, Sir Alex Ferguson making the recommendation.

United are in the market in search of a new permanent manager to take from interim boss, Ralf Rangnick.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Tag of Ajax have been picked as frontrunners to land the role this summer.

Ferguson was reported to have recommended Ancelotti despite his administration for Pochettino.

However, ESPN report that the Real Madrid boss is now among the candidates considered by United’s hierarchy as either ‘unsuitable or unattainable’.

Also in consideration is Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto Mancini, who was also linked with a surprise move to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has already been interviewed by Manchester United this week but the Ajax manager.

Pochettino, however, is under pressure to keep his job at Paris Saint-Germain for the remainder of the season following their Champions League exit to Real Madrid earlier this month.

PSG remain on course to win Ligue 1 by a considerable margin but they delivered another woeful performance in their 3-0 defeat to Monaco last weekend.
