Proper disposal of waste is environmentally safe as it guards against harm and outbreak. However, proper waste management is a function of responsible social behavior, economic feasibility and environmental sustainability. This brings in the responsibility of citizens, industries, and public administrators into consideration in this regard.

The European directives on waste management encourage reuse, recycling, and conversion of waste resources into other forms. However, the environmental sustainability and profitability of this recommendation has remained cloudy. Meanwhile, there really good reasons for proper waste management, and they include;
