Left Alone At Christmas.

My friend was left alone by his wife for Christmas. They have a son together and live with her mother. On christmas morning the wife and mother left with the son and went to spend christmas with the mother's boyfriend. They did not invite or tell him anything.
They left him to eat cornbeef, as they did not prepare anything for him. On their return, they had a big fight and she didn't really have an answer, but said it was her mother's idea...i don't really know what to advice him as he has asked me.
