Naira Redesign: Gov, Wike Lauds Supreme Court Verdict, Says Rivers Will Join Suit Against FG

Gov Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has applauded the Supreme Court for restraining the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, from implementing the February 10 deadline on the phasing out of N200, N500 and N1000 old notes.

Wike spoke during the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in the Abua/Odual Local Government Area, where he urged the people to preserve their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote for the candidates of the PDP at the state level.

He also commended the government of the three states that filed the suit.

He said the Rivers State Government will join the suit against the Federal Government, noting that the PDP in the state is not in support of the policy.

The governor stressed that the Supreme Court has through the decision, proven that the judiciary is the hope of the common man.

 the deadline should be kept and not extended. This is ridiculous someone should be able to make a decision and stand by it. The politicians are the ones that are worried about the new design and not the common man. If they were concerned they should have developed the rural areas before now. They are afraid because the money the monkey and the snakes swallowed are about to go to waste. Indian when they change their currency has 4hrs notice. This is not an issue in order parts of the world because the politicians do not loot the treasury nor have self-made built volts home to side stolen money.
