Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has said that Oyo State Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, will lose his bid for second term re-election.

Aregbesola stated this in Osogbo, on Tuesday evening when he addressed medical students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, who visited his office to protest the protracted ownership crisis engulfing the university.

Condemning the attempt by Oyo State government to take-over the university, Aregbesola called on President Goodluck Jonatahn to prevail on Alao-Akala from putting a knife to the unity between Osun and Oyo states.

Aregbesola said Osun and Oyo states remained one indivisible entity, which ‘selfish political considerations’ would not separate.

The governor said the people of Oyo State were watching the Alao-Akala administration ‘with shock and dismay’ over its bid to acquire the university jointly owned by the two states.

He said, “Osun and Oyo people are one. Oyo people have families living in Osun and vice-versa. The people are watching the anti-people actions of the Oyo government and they are going to repay the administration during the general elections.

“Alao-Akala cannot win the governorship election in Oyo because of his anti-people actions. The action of the government is irresponsible.”

The two states jointly fund the running of the institution, which has a medical faculty and teaching hospital located in Osogbo, Osun State while the campus of the university is located in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Aregbesola described the bid by Oyo State government to take-over the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, as irresponsible.

Led by the LAUTECH Student Union President, Mr Folajinmi Folayemi, the students sang solidarity songs condemning the action of the Oyo State government to take-over the university.
