Jos — The Igbo Community Association in Plateau State has said over 40 Igbos were killed between last Saturday and Sunday in the recent outbreak of violence in Plateau State. The Igbos vowed to continue to stay at home to protest the death of their kindred until something was done on the security situation in the state. The association said it had concluded plans to take the corpses to the South-east, saying it was against the tradition of the Igbos to bury people who have attained certain ages outside their villages.Thousands have been displaced following religious Christian and Muslim attacks. They said several others were injured and were receiving treatment in various hospitals in the state and called on governments at all levels to do something urgently to bring perpetrators to book or they would shut down their businesses in the city. President General of the association, Chief Richard Wayas who addressed a press conference on behalf of the association, said the Igbos had lost confidence in the Commandant of the Special Task Force, Brig, Gen. Hassan Umaru because they cannot understand how with the presence of heavy security, people traveling to Yola, Adamawa State in a luxurious bus were attacked and murdered in cold blood while the bus was set ablaze. Chief Wayas identified some Hausa \Fulani youths as the attackers, saying they cordoned the Dilimi and Bauchi road area and killed people. "We are at a loss to understand how the unfortunate events that occurred in far away Mangu Local Government Area and a CPC congress at Islamiya Primary School, Bauchi road, Jos will lead to the massacre of innocent and defenseless Igbo lives", he said
