here was an explosion in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital yesterday, presumably aimed at the opposition Labour Party office, shortly after the party concluded its governorship primary election which was won by Mr. Timi Alaibe, the former adviser to President Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs who defected to the Labour Party to pursue governorship ambition. Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Eguaveon Emokpai confirmed the incident but he said there was no impact at all on the building while no one was hurt because the explosive was an improvised one thrown by a hoodlum after politicians had concluded their voting and vacated the party headquarters in the state capital. The explosion was the second within weeks in the home of President Goodluck Jonathan. Daily Trust had reported Wednesday that Bayelsa was prone to violence over bitter political rivalry between incumbent governor Timipre Sylva who emerged candidate of the ruling PDP and Alaibe. Only last weekend, about six persons were feared killed and several others wounded in Opokuma, the village of Chief Timi Alaibe in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government local government area of the state when rival youths loyal to him and Sylva clashed.
