Mali’s military junta has announced that the election scheduled for February next year has been shifted for technical reasons.
In a statement on Monday, promised to release a new timeline at a later date.
The junta’s spokesman Abdoulaye Maiga blamed the delay on several factors, including a dispute with a French firm, Idemia, over a civil registry data base.
Mali was due to hold democratic elections next February following military coups in Aug. 2020 and May 2021.
