Veteran Nigerian singer Blackface has accused some of today’s top artists like Burna Boy and Davido of plagiarizing his music.
In a recent podcast appearance, Blackface claimed his songs have been “twisting and turned” by younger afrobeats musicians.
He implied that hits like Burna Boy’s “Last Last” borrow heavily from his own past recordings.
Blackface was one third of the highly influential group Plantashun Boiz in the 1990s. Since going solo, he has continued calling out perceived copyright infringements of his work.
In the interview, Blackface argues he never received proper credit as afrobeats has globalized.
However, his grievances were met with skepticism, as hosts questioned if the allegations could be substantiated.
