A 23-year-old Kenyan bride, Nelly Chepkoech, has reportedly cancelled her wedding a few hours before the ceremony.
According to Citizen Digital, Nelly reached out to the priest just hours before the ceremony, expressing her desire to postpone the wedding.
The publication stated that Pastor Clement Chalulot of Kapsoyo AGC Church, who was set to preside over the ceremony, the unexpected turn of events occurred when Nelly expressed reluctance to proceed with the wedding, citing a need for more time to decide on formalising their marriage.
"The communication from the presiding reverend that the bride had changed her mind halted everything and brought the entire plans to a halt,” explained Pastor Chalulot.
Leaked WhatsApp chats from the wedding committee’s group revealed a message circulated to inform members and the public about the unexpected change in plans.
Curiosity and speculation ran high within the group, prompting inquiries from concerned members seeking clarity on the sudden change.
A close friend of the couple and a member of the wedding committee responded, revealing that Nelly had expressed doubts about proceeding with the wedding.
Despite this explanation, members of the WhatsApp group continued to press for more details, questioning whether Nelly was the cause of the delay.
“Tell us why the wedding has been postponed. Let’s see if we can help our girl; it’s important for us to know if she is the cause of the postponement. I see you people keep mentioning Amos, Amos [like he is the cause])”
Meanwhile, speculation have risen regarding Nelly's sudden change of heart, with some suggesting that her former lover returned.
It was gathered that Nelly dated her ex for five years and had dated Amos, the groom, for six months.
