Zamfara State Government says it will prosecute a woman accused of aggravated assault against her 12-year-old stepdaughter in Tsafe town, Tsafe Local Government Area of the State.

This was disclosed by the State commissioner for women, children and social development, Dr Nafisa Muhammad during her visit to the victim.

The commissioner said, “We received a report that one Aisha Mustapha of Tsafe town brutally assaulted her 12-year-old stepdaughter by melting nylon on her body and forcing her to drink her urine.”

Muhammad vowed that the government of Zamfara State would not tolerate such abuse, stressing that the accused woman would be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.

The victim’s mother, Malama Maryam Muhammad, pleaded with the State government and concerned non-governmental organizations operating in the State to thoroughly investigate all the alleged atrocities committed by the accused person.

She expressed her gratitude to the commissioner and officials of non-governmental organizations for their concern and support regarding her daughter’s ordeal.
