A hit-and-run driver has crushed a woman and her two children to death in the Gboko area of Benue State.
Witnesses said that the incident happened on Wednesday evening, December 27, 2023, while the mother, her children and two other women stood along Old Ban Street, New Road in Gboko town.
It was gathered that the driver of a black highlander vehicle ran into the victims after he veered off the road.
The driver allegedly fled with the vehicle while the victims were immediately rushed to Baki clinic in Gboko, where the mother and her two children were confirmed dead on arrival.
Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) operating in the area confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, saying that the driver ran into the victims by the roadside, killing them in the process.
"As of this morning (Thursday), the driver of the vehicle has not reported himself to the police,” a road safety official said.
