
President Bola Tinubu, alongside governors, members of the National Assembly, and other dignitaries, attended the final burial ceremony of former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, in Owo. The event was held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Imola, Owo, and was filled with grief as attendees paid their last respects.
Among those present were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, governors from various states including Ekiti, Osun, Enugu, Bayelsa, Kwara, Benue, Lagos, Anambra, Ogun, Oyo, and Delta states. Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other dignitaries also attended.
In his sermon titled “The Brevity of Life,” Bishop Blessing Enyindah emphasized the transient nature of life and urged politicians to address the hardship faced by Nigerians. He called on attendees to reflect on their legacy and the significance of their actions, highlighting Akeredolu's impactful contributions to Ondo State and the Anglican Church.
President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, described Akeredolu as someone who left an "indomitable legacy of national service." He emphasized that it was a day to remember and celebrate Akeredolu's life and humanity, noting his lasting impact on history.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa appreciated dignitaries for paying their respects to Akeredolu, describing him as a great man remembered for his advocacy on national issues such as the rule of law and good governance.
Following the church service, Akeredolu was buried at a private ceremony attended strictly by family members. The event marked the end of the funeral proceedings for the former governor
