In response to an alleged case of extortion involving a Port Harcourt resident, the Nigeria Police authorities have taken decisive action. A statement released by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, on Sunday outlined the measures taken against the errant officers.

Inspector Michael Odey, one of the officers implicated in the incident, has been dismissed from duty. Additionally, ASP Doubara Edonyabor and ASP Talent Mungo have been suspended pending further investigation. These actions have been approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The statement reiterated that Inspector Michael Odey's dismissal came into effect on February 7, 2024, following thorough Orderly Room proceedings and a comprehensive review conducted by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16.

The police spokesperson emphasized that the indicted officers were arrested while investigations into the allegation were ongoing. She assured the public that the outcome of the police investigation would be made public, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to uphold transparency and accountability.
