In a decisive operation, the combined troops of Operation UDO KA have dealt a significant blow to the activities of IPOB/ESN terrorists in Mother Valley, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, eliminating 20 terrorists and dismantling their command center.

Led by a coalition of military forces, including the police, civil defense, and Department of State Services personnel, the operation took place on March 7, 2024, as confirmed by Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations.

According to Buba, the troops targeted the terrorists' stronghold, destroying approximately 50 tents, their Supreme Headquarters, Command and Control Centre, as well as their Military Council Headquarters. Additional structures, including residences, offices, logistic bases, temples, and shrines, were also razed to the ground.

The camp, strategically concealed with foliage, provided cover for the criminals from air surveillance. It boasted sufficient power supply, numerous farms, and livestock to sustain the terrorists' activities.

Encountering various command IEDs and ditches along the axis to the camp, the troops successfully detonated the explosives and covered the ditches with excavators before advancing further. The identified location served as the nerve center for IPOB/ESN operations.

Engaging in a firefight, the troops neutralized 20 terrorists and seized a cache of assorted weapons, including rifles, pistols, and RPG bombs. Additionally, they recovered ammunition, magazines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), communication devices, surveillance equipment, and paraphernalia associated with the separatist group.

Of particular concern was the discovery of shallow graves at the shrine within the camp, suggesting ritualistic practices and accounting for several cases of missing persons in the region.

The recovered items are undergoing analysis for their intelligence value, while efforts to root out the remaining terrorists and their collaborators continue unabated.

The operation marks a significant milestone in the fight against insurgency and underscores the military's commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
