In a startling turn of events, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended four individuals accused of orchestrating a fake kidnapping scheme, including a makeup artist enlisted to lend authenticity to their deceitful videos.
The investigation was launched following a distress call from the family of Agnes Ogbeh, a resident of Akure who had reportedly traveled to Lagos before allegedly falling victim to abduction. Initial reports depicted a harrowing scene of Agnes and another individual bound, gagged, and surrounded by ominous blood droplets in a series of ransom videos sent to her family.
Demanding a hefty sum of Five Million Naira for Agnes's safe return, the purported kidnappers continued to fuel the family's anguish with each chilling communication.
Prompted by the family's plea, detectives from the Lagos State Police Command embarked on a meticulous inquiry, leading them to a clandestine hideout where Agnes and her purported captive companion, along with two accomplices, were discovered cohabiting without restraint.
Unraveling the elaborate facade, investigators unearthed the role of 25-year-old Margaret Itodo, a skilled makeup artist enlisted to craft the illusion of authenticity in the fabricated videos.
All four suspects, identified as Margaret Itodo, Agnes Ogbeh, Esther Anyanwu, and Anthony Chinakwe, have provided incriminating statements and await arraignment pending the conclusion of the investigation.

In commendation of the diligent efforts of the detectives, Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
