Niger Delta ex-militant leader, Paul Eris, also known as General Ogunbos, has revealed the shocking discovery that he is not the biological father of his 22-year-old son, Raymond. The revelation came in a Facebook post on Sunday, May 26, 2024, where Eris shared the details of the confession made by Raymond's mother, his ex-girlfriend Helmina, in the presence of his family elders.
Eris disclosed that Helmina admitted Raymond's biological father is actually a former neighbor from her father's house in Port Harcourt, hailing from Nembe in Bayelsa State. She further revealed that she had initially been impregnated by Eris but had an abortion. Later, she became pregnant by the neighbor and falsely claimed to Eris that the abortion was unsuccessful.
When Eris denied responsibility for the pregnancy, Helmina gave birth and abandoned Raymond with Eris's relatives in Onyoma when he was 11 months old. Eris raised Raymond, providing him with a privileged upbringing, including education at one of Abuja's top schools, Lead British International Schools.
In his emotional post, Eris expressed the pain of learning the truth. "Raymond is not my son. I have just handed over a 22-year-old son to the mother, who by birth was not my biological child as claimed by his mother," he wrote.
Despite Helmina's insistence that Eris adopt Raymond, he refused, insisting the boy be taken to his real father. "I took the child when the mother abandoned him at Onyoma at 11 months. He grew up under my watch, went to the best schools, but now I cannot continue this charade," Eris stated.
Eris described the emotional turmoil of losing someone he had raised as his own. "The most painful part is losing someone you once called family, not to death, but to the revelation that he is not your blood," he lamented. He also highlighted his generosity, mentioning that he built a house for Helmina's family in 2018.
Reflecting on the situation, Eris acknowledged the difficulty of confronting such pain but chose to share his story publicly. "Please, Raymond is no more my son. Accept it and let's move on. We shared all the love for 22 years, but we can't continue. Goodbye," he concluded.
