
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced a successful sting operation resulting in the apprehension of 11 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud. The arrests were made at Whimpey, Ada George area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In a statement released on Friday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale disclosed that the operation was conducted following credible intelligence on the suspects' alleged involvement in internet fraud activities. The arrests were the culmination of several days of surveillance within the targeted areas.
The statement further revealed that the EFCC operatives seized four cars, along with various brands of phones and laptop computers containing fraudulent documents during the operation.
"These arrests are a testament to the EFCC's commitment to combating cybercrime and ensuring that perpetrators face the full weight of the law," stated Oyewale.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, according to the EFCC spokesperson.
This latest operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to tackle cybercrime and protect individuals and businesses from fraudulent activities conducted online.
