
Tragedy Strikes Gwoza Wedding: Female Suicide Bomber Kills Scores
A devastating attack struck a wedding celebration in Gwoza town, Borno State, when a female suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) at the venue, killing at least six people and injuring 16 others. The incident occurred on Saturday at Tashan Mararaba, near the Fire Service in Gwoza town.
According to eyewitnesses, the bomber, a young mother in her twenties, disguised herself as a guest and stormed the venue, detonating the IED while carrying a baby on her back. The explosion claimed the life of a soldier, and when mourners gathered to bury the dead, another bomber disguised as a mourner detonated a second IED, killing one person.
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the incident and declared a curfew in Gwoza with immediate effect. The injured are receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Gwoza. The attack is a grim reminder of the ongoing security challenges in the region.
The Sector One Operation Hadin Kai and 7 Division spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that a full situation report is still being compiled. The attack has sent shockwaves through the community, and authorities are working to ensure the safety of residents.
