In a proactive move to enforce moral standards, the Katsina State Hisbah Board has confiscated 142 cartons of alcohol destined for Daura Local Government Area.

Dr. Aminu Usman, the Hisbah Commander, revealed this development during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina on Saturday. The seizure occurred during a city-wide patrol aimed at curbing immoral behaviors and maintaining discipline.

According to Commander Usman, the interception took place on Monday along the state’s ring road under the supervision of Malam Nafi’u Ma’azu-Akilu. The seized alcohol was promptly transported to the board’s headquarters for further investigation.

In a related operation, the Hisbah Board also brought charges against two young women, Fatima Umar (Yargata) and Raliya Isah (Yar Ruma), both approximately 24 years old, for repeated instances of loitering and immoral conduct.

Despite previous warnings and counseling sessions, the women allegedly failed to reform their behavior, leading to their arraignment before a Sharia Court. Both individuals pleaded guilty and were remanded in a correctional facility pending further trial scheduled for Thursday.

Commander Usman urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to intensify efforts in instilling discipline and moral values among the youth. He emphasized the importance of community support in upholding moral standards and restoring traditional values in Katsina State.
