According to Opalola, the arrest followed a complaint lodged by a resident of Edo State, who alleged that in March, he had engaged Olalekan Amos to transport three amplifiers, each valued at N1.5 million, to a customer in Osogbo.
"The complainant, aware of the suspect's profession as a commercial bus driver plying the Benin to Osogbo route, hired him for the delivery of the amplifiers. However, to his dismay, the amplifiers were not delivered as agreed, and subsequent attempts to reach the driver were unsuccessful," Opalola explained.
Acting on the complaint, the Police Anti-Cultism Unit initiated a surveillance operation, leading to the apprehension of the suspect in Osogbo on Thursday.
"During interrogation, the suspect confessed to selling the three amplifiers for a total sum of N75,000, at a rate of N25,000 each," Opalola disclosed.
She further stated that efforts were underway to apprehend the buyer and recover the stolen amplifiers.
"The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of our investigation," Opalola assured.
The arrest of Olalekan Amos has underscored the commitment of the Osun State Police Command to combating criminal activities and ensuring the protection of citizens and their property across the state.
