Despite the commissioning of the Agbara Fire Service Station by Governor Abiodun before the 2023 election, the station remains inoperative 18 months later. This has left residents relying on private companies for emergency fire services.

In February 2024, Kayode Oluwasegun, a resident of Agbara in Ogun State, nearly lost all his properties to a fire that engulfed his apartment. Fortunately, a private company's active fire service department intervened and saved his properties.

On November 10, 2023, another fire incident at Katsina Close, Agbara Estate, threatened another family's property. Once again, the same private company provided timely assistance.

Over the past year, numerous fire incidents have occurred in residential areas, worship centers, and companies in Agbara and Igbesa. Each time, Nestle, a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, has promptly responded to save lives and properties.

“Since 2018, Nestle has been supporting the community with firefighting whenever there is a fire outbreak,” Victoria Uwadoka, the company’s Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead reveals
