A commercial bus traveling on the Ughelli-Agbarho section of the East-West Road in Delta State was attacked by suspected armed herdsmen, resulting in the death of an unidentified male passenger and injuries to a female passenger.
The bus, en route from Bayelsa State to Warri, came under fire around 5 PM on Friday. The female passenger sustained bullet wounds to both legs during the attack.
The Delta State Police Command is currently investigating the incident, with the whereabouts of other passengers still unknown as of the time of reporting.
SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, stated on Saturday that he would reach out to the local police division for further details on the case.
This incident follows a recent announcement by the police spokesperson two weeks ago, in which the Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, confirmed the deployment of a tactical team to the area to combat the increasing occurrences of armed robbery and kidnapping along the route.
