Gunmen Suspected To Be Herdsmen Attack Egwuma Community, Benue: Five Reported Dead

At least five people have been killed in an attack by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen in the Egwuma community, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

Reliable sources informed DAILY POST that the attack occurred on Sunday afternoon.

A community member, who requested anonymity for security reasons, confirmed that the assailants were herdsmen. According to the source, the attackers arrived around 2:00 pm and launched a deadly assault on the village.

“Youths searched the bush and recovered five dead bodies of villagers,” the source reported. The community youths have since mobilized to defend against further attacks, and security agencies have been alerted.

As of the time of this report, sources indicated that the attack on Egwuma was still ongoing.

When contacted, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anne, stated that she had not yet been briefed on the incident.

Benue people should form vigilante groups in every communities, arm them and work together with all their fellow vigilantes of every communities and always come to help each other.
They should join hands and flush all the terrorists in their Forest and everywhere in the state parading themselves as headsmen.
Any community that allows headsmen in their territory are signing their death warrant, and know that the government and security agencies are aiding those terrorists.
