This could involve the implementation of more user-friendly on-screen graphics, as well as clearer and more detailed explanations from the match officials when a VAR review is conducted.
Furthermore, the Premier League is working closely with the International Football Association Board (IFAB) to ensure that the VAR protocols and guidelines are continuously refined and updated to keep pace with the evolving nature of the game. This includes exploring potential enhancements to the offside rule, which has been a particular source of controversy and debate since the introduction of VAR.
"We recognize that the VAR system is still a work in progress, and we are committed to ensuring that it continues to evolve and improve for the benefit of the game," said Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters. "The 2024/2025 season will see some significant upgrades and enhancements to VAR, all aimed at making the system more efficient, transparent, and consistent in its decision-making."
