Tragedy struck at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) as Naja’atu Salisu, a 300-level Computer Science student, passed away after being discovered unconscious in her hostel bathroom.
Naja’atu was found lying unconscious on the bathroom floor in the female hostel at the university's Gubi campus on Friday morning. According to one of her roommates, she had completed her usual morning routine and laid out her clothes for the day before heading to the bathroom for a shower.
ATBU spokesperson, Zailani Bappa, confirmed the incident, stating that Naja’atu was immediately rushed to the university clinic for medical attention. However, medical personnel struggled to find a vein for treatment.
"She was then transferred to the Trauma Centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead," Bappa said.
The news has left the university community in shock and mourning as students and staff grapple with the sudden loss. Further details surrounding the cause of death are yet to be disclosed.
