Two suspects have been apprehended by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) following a dramatic attempt to steal a black Prado Jeep in the Jahi District of Abuja. The incident occurred on July 22 around 10:45 PM as police operatives were on routine patrol.

According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects were part of a four-man armed gang. Upon sighting the police, the group engaged in a gunfight, resulting in the arrest of Joshua Godfrey, also known as Dogo, 44, and Abdulsalam Mamuda, 29, both from Mabushi village. Two additional gang members were neutralized during the exchange of fire.

The arrested suspects subsequently led police to recover a stolen red Toyota Corolla with registration number RBC 743 AH. This vehicle was reportedly snatched from a resident prior to the attempted Jeep theft. Authorities also seized various weapons and items from the suspects, including arms, a cutlass, a dagger, scissors, and mobile phones.

SP Adeh commended the quick response and effectiveness of the police patrols in curbing criminal activities and ensuring public safety.
