Nigerian businesswoman Sandra Iheuwa has publicly condemned the Orita Police in Ibadan for the alleged illegal detention and segxwal harassment of her employees.

In a fervent Instagram post on July 26, 2024, Iheuwa detailed her distress over the police's actions, claiming that her staff were detained without any formal invitation or valid reason. The businesswoman reported that the police entered her office under the pretense of needing to ask questions but proceeded to hold her employees unlawfully.

Iheuwa expressed frustration that despite her corporate lawyer's efforts to negotiate with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), they encountered ongoing resistance. The situation reportedly worsened with allegations of segxwal harassment of her staff while in custody, marking a severe abuse of power.

“This is an outright abuse of power,” Iheuwa wrote. “My staff members are hardworking women trying to support their families, yet they are being mistreated and harassed. The police entered my office under false pretenses and are now holding my employees without any legitimate cause.”

She further criticized the police for violating her employees' fundamental human rights, including their right to personal liberty and dignity, as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.

Iheuwa has called on the public to support her cause and demand the immediate release of her staff. She urged for collective action to address what she describes as a gross misuse of police authority in a country already burdened with significant economic hardships.

“I am pleading for justice and asking everyone who sees this message to help bring attention to this grave injustice,” she added. “The country is already hard enough; we don’t need additional struggles from those who are supposed to protect us.”

The Nigerian public is encouraged to share her message and support her fight against this alleged abuse of power.
