President Bola Tinubu is set to address the nation on Sunday in response to ongoing hunger protests that have erupted in various parts of the country. This announcement was made by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement released on Saturday.
The President's broadcast is scheduled to be aired on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) at 7:00 am. Ngelale urged all television, radio, and electronic media outlets to connect to these network services for the broadcast. The address will also be repeated at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm on the same day.
The President's address follows mounting pressure from opposition leaders and citizens demanding action and communication from the government as the #EndBadGovernance protests entered their third day on Saturday. Protesters have been calling for solutions to the severe hunger and economic hardship affecting many Nigerians.
Reports indicate that at least fourteen people have lost their lives in the protests, with numerous others injured as tensions continue to escalate. The President's address is anticipated to offer solutions and calm the growing unrest across the nation.
