A young boy was shot and killed by Nigeria Police Force operatives in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday, as the #EndBadGovernance protests entered their third day. The incident occurred near Zenith Bank in Kubwa.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victim was not participating in the protest but was in the vicinity when he was shot at close range. According to a witness, the boy was simply passing by when police fired from a different location.
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju condemned the shooting, calling it an "unprovoked murder." In a statement to DAILY POST, Adeyanju demanded accountability from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun and criticized the police for their actions.
Adeyanju said, “IGP Kayode Egbetokun and his men must answer for the death of this innocent young boy, who was shot in the neck at close range near Zenith Bank in Kubwa. The boy was merely observing the protest, not participating, when he was killed.”
The police have not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
