The arrest of a middle-aged man connected to the harvesting of iron rods from the FESTAC link bridge has raised significant concern. This incident, which was highlighted by GISTMANIA on Tuesday, August 6, involved criminals breaking sections of the bridge to harvest the iron rods used in its construction.
A video showing the damaged parts of the bridge was shared, capturing the attention of the public and authorities.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Wahab Tokunbo, announced that a suspect has been apprehended in connection with this crime and handed over to the police.
The suspect who gave his name as Abdulahi Taiye claims to be from Kwara state, confessed that he found the iron rods and intended to sell them.
