The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded four individuals accused of trafficking young women and minors for prostitution. The suspects, identified as Joy Ben, Blessing Edet, Rose Michael, and Okechukwu Michael, were apprehended on August 6 after nine victims, including two minors, were rescued from a hotel in Apete, Ibadan.
State Commandant Augustine Padonu revealed that in a separate operation on July 30, the NSCDC uncovered a fuel smuggling operation near Gwagwasu Moore Road in Kishi. During the operation, 55 kegs of suspected Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were found hidden in a forested area. The suspects involved in the smuggling operation managed to escape, but efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Padonu also stated that the suspects involved in the human trafficking case will be charged in court after the investigation is concluded.
