In a development from Paris, French police have detained an Egyptian Olympic wrestler early Friday morning, August 9, on charges of segxwal assault.
The arrest took place outside a café in the French capital, where the wrestler is accused of inappropriately touching a fellow customer's buttocks, according to a statement from the Paris prosecutor's office.
The identity of the wrestler has not been released. He was taken into custody and an investigation is underway to examine the details of the accusation.
A senior official from the Egyptian Olympic delegation reported that they were not informed of the arrest and, therefore, are unable to comment on the situation.
