In a significant security operation on August 16, 2024, troops from the 1 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), part of Operation Sahel Sanity II, neutralized two extremists in Zamfara State.
Lt. Suleiman Omale, spokesperson for OPHD, reported that the confrontation occurred in the Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops engaged in a fierce gunfight with the extremists, successfully neutralizing two of them.
"The bandits were caught off-guard and forced to retreat in disarray," Lt. Omale stated. Following the clash, a mop-up operation led to the recovery of an operational motorcycle used by the extremists.
The area has been secured, with OPHD troops continuing to patrol and build confidence among local residents. These measures are part of an ongoing effort to maintain safety and stability in the region.
