Renowned Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has alerted her fans and the general public to a scammer posing as her to solicit funds.
The actress took to social media to expose an individual identified as “Prosper” who has been using her name and image to deceive unsuspecting victims.
Akindele shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation in which the scammer, masquerading as the actress, asked a victim for a loan of N200,000, promising to repay it the next day.
The scammer’s message was accompanied by Funke’s picture, furthering the belief that the request was genuine.
In her post, the actress warned her followers to be vigilant, stressing that she had no connection to the fraudulent activities.
She wrote, “Pls beware!!! This is not from me!! Prosper!!! E no go prosper for you o!!! Ole!!!”
Funke Akindele also advised the public to be cautious and to avoid falling victim to such scams.
She urged her fans to verify any unusual requests for money or assistance purportedly coming from her or any other celebrity before taking any action.
