Usman Austin Okai, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kogi State, has opined that it is demeaning and disrespectful for a man to kneel to propose to a woman.

He then stated that a lady should not be happy when a man kneels to propose to her because it is disrespectful.

“Never raise a son to go on a knee for any woman to propose marriage,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“And you as a lady, you are happy that a man is kneeling down before you. Which culture or religion? It's unnatural, it's demeaning and disrespectful.”

On point, I don't know why we are always quick at embracing foreign culture and discarding our own identity. The white man will look at us and laugh, where is our own culture and integrity as a people? Or is this as a result of #badgovernance?
