Toyosi Etim-Effiong, founder of The Good Media, is championing the expansion of Nollywood beyond Nigeria, emphasizing the untapped potential of the industry on a global scale. In a recent interview with Nollywire during the launch of Nile Entertainment Group, Etim-Effiong discussed the significant impact Nile Entertainment could have on Nollywood's future.

“For a long time, people have been moving in the same direction, but now we see that there is space, there is room, and we’ve been called to occupy that space. It’s great to see Nile Media taking up that space,” she stated, highlighting the opportunities for growth within the industry.

Etim-Effiong also expressed optimism that increased competition within Nollywood would lead to better compensation for talent. “I’m looking forward to talents being remunerated even better. I believe that competition will help that. Let’s get more money in people’s pockets,” she added.

She further praised the new cinematic venture launched by Moses Babatope of Nile and Mo Abudu of EbonyLife, noting the potential for job creation and expanded distribution networks.
Quote
“I like the idea of more cinemas, a luxury line; I’m looking forward to that. I just want to see what that looks like and how it will be received in this landscape. It’s more jobs, more distribution for the content created—the industry is growing,”
she said.

In her collaboration with Essence, an initiative aimed at promoting global Black storytelling, Etim-Effiong underscored the necessity of better marketing to elevate Nollywood on the international stage.
Quote
“Nigeria is too small to contain Nollywood. We just need to do more marketing because that’s what it is. When we go out and talk to international brands, it is marketing for Nollywood,”
she remarked.

Etim-Effiong believes that with the strategic efforts of Nile Entertainment and its powerful team, Nollywood can achieve global recognition and reap the rewards of its storytelling prowess. “That’s what we want—global recognition and rewards,” she concluded.
