Cristiano Ronaldo has cemented his status as one of football’s greatest players by becoming the first men's player to score 900 official goals.
Ronaldo's milestone goal came during Portugal’s UEFA Nations League match against Croatia on September 5, 2024, in Lisbon.
The historic strike occurred in the 34th minute, as Ronaldo connected with a volley from 6 yards out, set up by a cross from Nuno Mendes, giving Portugal a 2-0 lead.
Portugal eventually won the match 2-1.
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, now stands 58 goals ahead of Lionel Messi, who has 842 goals. Brazilian legend Pelé ranks third with 765 goals. Ronaldo was also the first player to break the 800-goal barrier in late 2021 while playing for Manchester United.
Additionally, Ronaldo holds the record for most international goals with 131 in 209 appearances, further highlighting his enduring impact on the sport. Messi, alongside former Iran forward Ali Daei, is second on this list with 109 goals each.
