Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has issued a stern warning to the opposition against any attempts to manipulate the upcoming Edo State governorship election. Speaking at the grand finale of the PDP’s campaign rally in the Ekemwan area of Edo State on Saturday, Atiku stressed that Edo would not tolerate election interference.
Drawing a comparison to Lagos, Atiku claimed that unlike Lagos State, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) could allegedly tamper with election results, Edo would resist such efforts. “Edo is not Lagos,” he asserted, referencing the PDP's previous victory in the state.
Atiku urged Edo voters to remain vigilant, encouraging them to protect their votes and ensure transparency throughout the electoral process. “Four years ago, they threatened us, but we showed them that Edo State is not Lagos,” he reminded the crowd, calling on them to repeat the effort. He added, “Make sure your votes are entered, results are announced, and no one can steal your votes.”
The former Vice President concluded by expressing confidence in the PDP’s chances, rallying the people to stand firm and ensure victory in the upcoming election.
