This development, related to Mohbad’s memorial, was revealed in a statement by the legal representatives of Mohbad’s family, with Monisola Odumosu signing off on behalf of the family.
The Ogun State High Court has issued a temporary injunction halting a planned event honoring the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Justice O. Osunfisan granted the ruling after a motion was submitted by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, with legal representation from Emmanuel Oroko. The injunction specifically prevents the “Sing for Mohbad and Win” event, which was scheduled to take place from September 12 to 14, 2024, in Ogun State or elsewhere.
The family of the late singer has taken legal measures to ensure that *Mohbad’s memorial* is not commercialized. They emphasized their grief and requested that the public avoid taking advantage of the outpouring of love for Mohbad for personal gain.
Odumosu, representing the family, clarified that the case regarding Mohbad’s memorial will return to court on October 7, 2024, for a hearing on the motion for an interlocutory injunction. This legal step follows previous pleas from Mohbad’s family for individuals and organizations to seek their approval before hosting any events in his name, in order to ensure that Mohbad’s memorial is honored with the dignity and respect it deserves.
