Tension rose at Azama Primary School in Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, as voters, including impeached Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu, were left stranded due to malfunctioning BIVAS machines at Unit 5, Ward 11.
Voting proceeded smoothly in Units 3, 4, and 6 by 8:30 a.m., bolstered by a significant security presence at the polling station. However, Shaibu voiced concerns about the faulty equipment, warning that it could disenfranchise over 2,000 registered voters.
Frustrated voters expressed their disappointment with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), criticizing the situation and demanding accountability.
In a related development, former Edo State Governor Senator Adams Oshiomhole addressed allegations that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was involved in vote-buying during the gubernatorial election. Voting at Iyamho, Ward 10, Unit 01, Oshiomhole dismissed the claims as "laughable," asserting that he had received no reports of violence or misconduct as the election continued.
The ongoing issues at the polling station have underscored the challenges faced by voters in the crucial gubernatorial election in Edo State.
