Private Ruth Ogunleye, the female soldier who was discharged from the military for accusing a senior officer of s3xual a$$aults, has made more damning accusations against the Nigerian Army and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Ogunleye was discharged on 15th June 2024 under claims of a mental health condition, which she disputed, arguing that her resignation was voluntary and facilitated by the Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy, who urged her to leave the Army. She has now called on the Army to make public the results of the investigation into her allegations and has also requested the Minister to clarify her involvement in the process, alleging that her voluntary discharge was later converted into a medical discharge under questionable circumstances.
The Army has denied the segxwal assault claims, citing a review of evidence and medical reports, which indicated that Ogunleye was medically vulnerable, a position she continues to challenge publicly
