Popular Nigerian singer, Simi, has shared the heartfelt story of how her husband, fellow music star Adekunle Gold, proposed to her in an unexpected and romantic gesture just days before her 30th birthday.
In a candid interview on the "OFFTHETOP" show with VJ Adams, Simi recounted how the proposal caught her completely by surprise, despite her usual knack for sensing surprises. The special moment took place after what seemed like a regular day, making it even more memorable.
Simi explained that the day began with both of them attending a friend’s mother’s birthday party. After the event, Simi, feeling tired, was ready to call it a day, but Adekunle suggested they have dinner with his uncles at Eko Hotel. Though fatigued, she agreed, thinking it would be a good opportunity to meet more of her husband's family.
As they approached the venue, Simi noticed candles at the entrance, assuming it was a thoughtful gesture from Adekunle's relatives. However, when she walked in, she was greeted by a breathtaking setup of candles, flowers, and balloons. At that moment, Adekunle Gold got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
Stunned by the surprise, Simi happily said "Yes," making it a moment she will cherish forever. The singer’s recount of the proposal has since warmed the hearts of many fans, who have praised the couple's love story.
