Awoyemi village, Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State was tensed by the brutal murder of Nafiu Afegbua, a middle-aged man.
According to reports, Afegbua received a mysterious call inviting him out, and despite his wife’s objections, he left home on his motorbike, only to be shot dead by unknown assailants.
His wife, who had grown anxious after waiting for hours without hearing from him, attempted to call his phone repeatedly, but it went unanswered. A search party launched the next morning discovered his lifeless body in a bush, near where his motorbike was abandoned.
A family source said the deceased’s remains have been deposited in a morgue.
This tragic event is the latest in a series of violent killings and kidnappings plaguing Okpella, sparking concerns about the escalating criminal activities in the area.
When contacted, the Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident and said that investigations are ongoing by the police.
