Fire Briefly Disrupts Section Of Lagos Blue Line Rail, No Casualties Reported

A section of the Lagos State Blue Line rail track caught fire on Saturday afternoon near NEPA Station by Eko Bridge, inward Apogbon, according to state officials. The blaze, which occurred around 4:12 p.m., did not result in any casualties and was swiftly contained by emergency response teams, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, confirmed.

Akosile shared the update on X, stating,

“There was a fire outbreak on a small section of the Lagos Blue Line track at a spot opposite NEPA Station by Eko Bridge inward Apogbon. The incident occurred at 4:12 pm. No casualty is reported and no train service at the time of the incident.”

Emergency teams quickly extinguished the flames, and officials have assured the public that there is no further risk. "Lagosians in that area can go about their business peacefully," Akosile added, noting that train operations will be updated by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) via their official channels.
