Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State has suspended the Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), Prof. Abu Kasim Adamu, effective immediately.
While the exact reasons for the suspension were not detailed, it is believed to be related to ongoing internal conflicts between Prof. Adamu and university staff, with reports indicating allegations of high-handedness and insubordination.
The tension, reportedly escalating as Prof. Adamu’s tenure was nearing its end in two months, has led to strained relationships with faculty and union representatives.
Governor Bago instructed Prof. Adamu to transfer his duties to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hassan Ibrahim, who has now assumed the role of Acting Vice Chancellor.
