The community of Amaeze in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, is reeling after a brutal attack that left a farmer and his two sons dead on their farmland. The tragic discovery was made in the early hours of Sunday after an intensive search by relatives when the three men did not return home as expected.
Sources revealed that the bodies of the victims, whose names had yet to be confirmed at press time, were found with severe injuries and signs of a violent assault, indicating a gruesome killing.
While Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said he had not yet been officially briefed by the Ivo Police Division, Ivo LGA Chairman Chief Emmanuel Ajah confirmed the killings and stated that additional security measures have been implemented to protect residents.
Nkemkanma Kama, a House of Representatives member representing Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo Federal Constituency, expressed shock and condemned the violence. "I received with great shock news of the recent killings of some farmers in Amaeze community by unscrupulous individuals, agents of evil, who delight in causing havoc and destruction in society," Kama said. He urged the Army and police to apprehend the culprits swiftly and enhance security across the area to ensure residents can safely return to their farms.
This incident has heightened concerns about safety in rural areas, where many rely on farming for their livelihoods, as community leaders and lawmakers call for urgent action to protect lives and prevent further bloodshed.
