The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has called on security agencies to go after the real culprits of the August 1 #Endbadgovernance nationwide protest, instead of innocent minors.

Sanusi II spoke yesterday when he visited the freed minors at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Kano, where they are currently undergoing rehabilitation.

The Monarch said “On interviewing them (the freed minors), many of them are students who go to school. They were picked up in the streets not in the middle of the violent act. It is sad that, they received this treatment. But we thanked the presidency and federal government for intervening and bringing an end to their difficulties. If this had continued am sure many of them would have lost their lives.

“We urge the authorities to focus on the adults who started this riot. This riot happened in Kano, photographs were taken, people were identified, those people have been walking round the streets including in Abuja while these children have been in the custody.

“We hope that in the interest of justice when things of this nature happened we will identify the real culprits and arrest them and try them rather than innocent children.”

The Monarch commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abba Yusuf for coming to the aid of the children just as he also thanked good spirited individuals for their concern in freeing the detainees.

Meanwhile, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has warned the 76 freed minors not to participate in any form of violent protest.

The Governor handed the warning to the minors, yesterday night, before accompanying them to their various wards at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist hospital in Kano.

Governor Yusuf who categorically spoke in Hausa to convey his message to the minors, said: “Do not engage in any form of violent protest. Wherever you see youths want to stage protest, preach against protest to them as you have become those to preach to others.

“This should serve as a lesson to you and you are to preach against it to others.”

The governor said the commissioner of education would engage with them on their educational status and those who are out of school will be return to school while those engaged in businesses will be given financial support as start up or continue with their businesses.

He said the children would be kept in the hospital for four to five days for thorough medical check by team of professional doctors to ensure they are mentally and physically stable before reuniting them with their families and reintegrating them into the society.

In Kaduna, the 39 children indigenes of the state  released by the Federal Government yesterday  reunited with their families.

They were given also N100, 000  and A18s model Itel android phone each by the state government.

During the ceremony at the “Children Homes” along Katuru road Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani promised to rehabilitate and empower the children once they turn a new leaf and become responsible and law abiding members of the society.

The Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr.  Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, who spoke on behalf of Governor Sani, said that the governor had directed him to collect  the credentials of those who have completed their tertiary education.

‘’The Governor promised that some of them will be given start-up capital to commence trading, others will be taught skills and some will be given employment,’’ he said.
