A heartwarming love story that began in a cab over a decade ago is culminating in marriage, as Charity Ekpeyong and her long-time partner, Ntiedo Samson, prepare to tie the knot.
Charity took to social media on Saturday, November 30, to share their journey, accompanied by throwback and pre-wedding photos. She revealed that their relationship started 11 years ago on a shared cab ride from Eket to Uyo and has since endured the test of time and numerous challenges.
“Some 11 years ago, I met this young man in a cab from Eket to Uyo. At that time, I was spending weekends with my friend NseAbasi Valentine,” Charity recounted. “We started out as friends, but Ntiedo wasn’t content with the friend zone. Though it took a while, he eventually summoned the courage to tell me how he felt.”
Charity admitted that she initially resisted his advances, still reeling from a previous relationship and craving solitude. However, a pep talk from her friend Precious Ifeoma changed her perspective.
“Precious told me, ‘Babe, this guy has been consistent. A man who’s serious won’t give up this easily. Give him a chance,’” Charity wrote. “She even offered to accompany me to meet him, and that meeting marked the beginning of something special.”
The couple’s bond grew stronger over the years, even as they faced their share of struggles and challenges. Charity humorously described their journey as enduring “shege pro max” but emphasized their resilience and commitment to each other.
Reflecting on their relationship, she likened their story to a modern fairy tale. “This is our own version of Esther who was black and broke,” Charity quipped, hinting at the obstacles they overcame.
Their inspiring story serves as a reminder of the power of persistence, friendship, and love that withstands the test of time. As the couple counts down to their big day, they stand as proof that love can bloom in the most unexpected places—even a cab.
